6 Ways to Use Pinterest for Small Business
Whether you’re a small business owner, freelancer, blogger, or something else entirely, using Pinterest for small business is huge.
Pinterest’s active user base grew 26% to 335 million last year
335 million. 335 million people that YOUR small business could reach. Imagine reaching only 0.02% of those users. Sounds small, right? It’s actually nearly 70 thousand people.
That’s a lot of people when you’re talking small business.
Now say, 1/8 of those people you reached purchased from your small business. That’s 8 thousand sales.
EIGHT THOUSAND. What could you do with an additional 8K sales in one year? Probably quite a bit. You could:
Pay yourself more
Grow your team
Invest back in your business
The list goes on. This. This is why using Pinterest for your small business is so important. And, here are 6 ways to do just that.

6 Ways to Use Pinterest for Small Business
1. Explore trends
Did you know that Pinterest has an entire section of their website dedicated to current trends? Well, now you do! Pinterest Trends gives you the opportunity to see what’s trending now. What are people searching for? What are they making, buying, creating, saving? Are you developing a new product or perhaps looking to offer a service that solves a problem. Explore trends to see how you can fit into the conversation.
2. Engage a new audience
Use Pinterest to get in front of new people! People that may not have seen you on Instagram or people who may not have stumbled upon your website in a Google search. Create your own pins, share other pins, and engage on pins (how many times can I say “pins” in one post?!) to start to build your audience and monthly views.
3. Increase traffic to your website
Let content marketing work for you! Content marketing is all about creating content that provides value. This builds trust, interest, and eventually - engagement with your potential clients and burgeoning community. For example, if you’re a hairstylist, try creating content like “10 Easy hairstyles for medium length hair” or “How to braid your own hair in 5 minutes or less.” Have fun with it! Create content that you enjoy creating and that you think your audience will find valuable.

4. Showcase your expertise
Remember a second ago when we talked about content marketing? This is it! Showcase your expertise in your niche. Use content on Pinterest to show others that you know what the heck you’re talking about. I love using my Pinterest to serve as an aggregation of all the things I do - coaching and photographing women doing their own thing, blogging about travel (ha) and easy cocktail recipes, and everything else I enjoy doing. Have some fun with it!
5. Advertise
That’s right. Advertise your business on Pinterest! It’s like Facebook and Instagram ads, but better. Especially if you’re targeting women. Moms, especially. In fact -
more than 80% of U.S. women ages 18-64 with children use Pinterest. In other words, 8 out of 10 moms are Pinners.
Crazy, right?! 8 out of 10! Explore Pinterest ads to get in front of your ideal audience, clients, and community.

6. Find inspiration
This is what everyone goes to Pinterest for - to find something. And, you can use it to find inspiration for yourself and your business, too! Look at what others are doing and explore how you can differentiate your work. Set some time aside for it each week - even 15 minutes! Get those creative juices flowing.
